blog assignment #8

In our family we use roughly 29,155 co2 emmissions pounds per year. I think that that is pretty good for a family of four. We could probably do a lot better and a lot worse. First we could try not to take the vehicles everywhere we go. Walking is good excersize and helps save our planet little by little. Also, everytime we go to the grocery store we could use burlap bags instead of the plastice bags. If we try to do better with the recycling that could probably help out tremendiously. I mean we do recycle but we arent on top of it by no means. We could do a lot better and maybe seperate or plastices and glass and paper. It would also help if we turned of our lights and appliances if we are not using them or have left the room. And when we heat our homes or cool them we might wanna think about turning it down sometimes. That could do a lot! If everyone took some of these steps we may not be seen as "overpopulated" anymore and it would be way better for our enviroment and our planet.

blog assignment #7

Wow, first of all that is a very long article!! it took forever to look through but some of the main points are how the end of the little ice age is the start of warming and how in the twentieth centry when the temperature raised one degree farenheit it means that we are all around doomed. Also how computper moduals are a treat to earth. The Kyoto Protocal also is a main topic and it shows that if we use kyoto we would convert only about 0.06 C by 2050! It also talks about the media and how they just put it out there and dont try to become commited advocats for this issue. They say that the media could not choose between Global Warming or Cooling scares. The media also supposted Al Gore's movie too so some people werent too happy that all the media was going to him and not to the other problems of global warming and if it really is happening. I belive that this article is very informational but it just comes down to you as a person and if you believe in global warming or not. Some people believe that they are just blowing this way out of proportion. Me, I dont know what to think about the global warming. I have no doubt that it is happening but i just dont know if we are blowing it out of proportion or not. and the talk about global cooling kinda turns it all around. So I don't know what to believe.

blog assignment #6

WOW! that game really gets you to realize just how tough it is to live for them and how much they are in danger! I made it to the water and back to the camp but when I was in the camp there were a lot of people that need your help at once. It really opened my eyes. I mean I knew that they had it really rough and were in danger besically every second of there life but that really made me realize that they are trying to fight really hard for their lives and how everyone helps everyone there. I think more people should play it and realize that they need to help them out!

Blog assignment #5

Recentely I Greene County, Georgia they were set to be the first school district in the entire nation to go entirely single-sex in their class rooms. They decided to do this after low test scores and an increase in teen pragnancy. They believe that students will do better because they will not be trying to inmpress the other sex. With about 2,000 students in the growing school district they are mostly black and a working class. Many parents are upset with this move because they believe that it is not needed because there kids are now being looked at as bad kids when one mom says that they really aren't. Leonard Sax, head of the National Association for Single Sex Public Education, has said that this move is an illegal even though single-sex classrooms and schools are on a raise. In the elemantary schools the boys and girls will just be in seperate classrooms but in grades seven through 12th the boys and girls will be in completely different schools!

My thoughts on this article are not very good. Girls and Boys have to learn to grow up together so they can tollerate each other so they are ready for the real world. I can see where some students would do better if they were seperated but I can see where some would not do as good because they feel more intimidated by the same sex. boys and girls can be very intimidating to one another. So I do not believe that it is going to be the smartest move that they have taken.

Blog assignment #4

Ok well on this blog we had to name as many countrys around the world as we could. There are 192 and I only names 37 of them. This one was a little tricky because I can not spell the greatest. I probably would have done a little better if you didnt have to spell them exactally right. i got most of the ones that we have already gone over in class like the Asian countrys ect. i also got the obvious ones such as United States and Canada ect. On the Asian countrys I probably would have been able to get some more such as Kazakstan but I am horrible at spelling! This was a good blog and it really woke me up on how many countrys are out there!
