Solar System Bent?

New observations from NASA's Voyager 2 show that the solar system is asymmetrical. They believe this is from the cause unlikely disturbances in the interstellar magnetic field. Scientists has always though it had been bent, but now evidence shows it. The discovery was made after it had flew past the edge of the solar system, 30 years after being unmanned. The Voyager 2 had been the first to have a working instrument that made the first direct measurements of the speed and temperature of the solar wind. Voyager 1 is traveling at ten miles per second and is the most distant of any manmade object. It will take about a decade to before the Voyagers reach the heliopause, which is the beginning of the interstellar space and then end of the solar system.

Discovery Finds Energy Source of Northern Lights

Scientists believe they have found the source of auroras borealis, or the Northern Lights. New data from Nasa's Themis Mission found that the energy comes from a stream of charged particles from the sun flowing like a current through twisted bundles of magnetic fields connecting Earth's upper atmosphere with the sun's. The energy is then released in the form of shimmering dispay of lights. In March, the satallites showed the Northern Lights over Alaska and Canada. The show lasted about two hours. The storm moves at about 400 miles a minute! Scientists hope this new knowledge will end the debate about how northern lights are created.

Study Shows Kids Not Pulling All Nighters Have Better GPA

A study done at St. Lawrence University in New York found that students who pull all nighters typically have lowers GPA's than those that don't. It is said that you don't think clearly at 4 in the morning, even though you might think you are. The study was done on 120 students and those who did pull all nighters had an average GPA of 2.95 while those who get sleep at night had an average around 3.2.
