Christmas

Christmas, we celebrate it because it is Jesus's birthday right? Well you wouldn't know now a days. A lot of children only like Christmas because they receive presents. Now in the news latley you here about how people want to end religious holidays. They complain about a whole lot of diffrent holidays, but never about Christmas. Christmas is one of the most Christan holidays there is, but you dont here of people tring to end it. That is because they are in it for gifts, not the real reason of Christanity.

This is just my opinion, but a lot of people agree with me. This is a common thing you learn about in church. So some people will say that, that is just what the church says. So what do you think and do around Christmas?

Vocal Concert Number Two

The second vocal concert is coming up tommorow. HCHS vocal has been workng really hard the past few months. Learning the songs and of course learning diffrent things about music. There are going to be four different preformances. The first will be ninth grade girls vocal. They will preform four seperate songs. All of witch are Christmas songs. Then Concert Choir will preform, than eclectics. After all of the vocal prefomances are done  there will be a band preformance.

Vocal students have made a great deal of improvement. Working hard, and spending time outside of class practicing. Harlan Vocal is very talented. They reach far above most choirs at the hich school level. The freshman girls will be singing the following songs. Go Tell It On The Mountian. This song is a very common Christmas song. Then we will sing Merrily Sing Noel. This song is very short, but very beautiful. We will also sing Blow, Blow Though Winter Wind. It is a very sarcastis song written by Shackespere. We will also sing Have Yourself A Marry Little Christmas. Freshman will also sing O'Holy Night with the concert choir.

The concert starts at 7:30. It will be held in the high school gym. I hope to see you there.

Winter Wonderland?

Ahhhhhhhhh..... snow, or YAY snow. Classic words that come form the mouths of parents and children. Parents and adults had to deal with plowing off the drive ways, being late for work and getting children ready. Most adults don't like the thought of snow. To them it means worring about getting places savely, and making sure there children don't get ill. Always worring, except the adults that are still children at heart.  Those adults and children all over had one thought on there minds... lets go play in the snow.

Thats exactly what they did. Children everywhere went sleding. Racing down hills, ramping, and always looking for the perfect sleding spot.  You see children all ages around. From ages 1 or older. There are always those adults that are children at heart and are out on the hills right along with the kids. I watched countless adults runover children, the children just get right back up and do it agian.

Of course it is not just sleding, you see snowmen, and snowforts. If you were to go past KNOD you would see a snowman that is wearing headphones, and an trucker hat. It is a really cute snowman. Then there is also the snow ball fights. Everyone loves snowball fights.

In the end you end up inside with a warm cup of hot cocco. Surrounded by the family, and you will always have the memories. So you decide is it a winter wounderland, or just anouther winter.

Dad Pops Out of Christmas Present

A solider that had been fighting over seas suprises his two little girls by being there Christmas gift. Sgt. Williams apoligized to his girls for missing there birthdays and that he can't be there for Christmas. The children were really upset but they understood. The girls were really confussed when they were called to the gym in front of the whole school. The girls were told to open a strang gift. They looked a little confussed, but they opened it. To there surprise it was there dad. You could tell they were very happy to see there dad agian.

This story really was a good one. My dad was in the Marines. He was stationed in Camp Pendalton California. I would go a year or two before I would see him agian. He would even leave over seas for long periods of time. I wouldn't really see him, but when I did he did those types of things for me. So I know how much it can mean to a person. These little girls are lucky to have such a great dad and and an awesome "Christmas Gift."

Got Your Flu Shots Yet?

Flu... the sign that winter is officially here. Thousands get sick every year with this illness. The Flu otherwise know as Influenza is an easy target for older people and babies. The symptoms for this illness are... body achs, fever, coughing, vomiting, and headachs. There are other symptoms to that are less common. On Thursday HCHS gave students an oppertunity to avoid all of these issues. Students went into the auditorium in the morning to get the shots. Students had to have signed papers to give to the nurses. They then recieved there shots. So can this acctually help or make matters worse?

For only a few people like my mom, it will make them sicker then the flu would. A few years ago there was a large group of people that got sick. Worries are that what if this were to happen agian. There are a lot of people that are agianst getting the flu shots and would just rather take the chances of getting the flu. Instead of what some of the side affects are from the shot.

So have you got your flu shot yet? You know where you get the (I got my Flu shot) sticker. I haven't, but have you? Which side are you on?
