Blog Assignmant #8

This was a really cool website.  It told me a ton about our waste here in america and how were are overpopulated.  The three of us Mom,John, and I have a total of 63,426 pounds of Co2 in the air each year.  I don't know but that sounds like a ton of CO2.   I felt bad that I couldn't say anything about using Energy Star appliences because we just feel that our appliences work fine and don't need to be replaced. Yes, I know that these appliences would be cheaper to run and reduce our carbon foot print but the price is just too steap for every american to buy one.  Only the better off and wealthy of our country could help in that way.  But we could do just as good of things like recycling, walking or  just plant a tree.  Yes we can do our part to help save our sweet and preatty amazing planet earth.  But, With people like James Inhofe and Al Gore just fighting and twisting facts to be on their side.  We could just all be arguing to the grave where were all eventually heading.

Blog Assignment #7

This extremly long aritcle was a very intriguing one. I especially took notice at what James Inhofe Said about Al Gore's Inconvient Truth.  He mentioned that only 5 out of the 100 that were contated by the AP thought that Gore's Documentary was genous and completly truthful.  Another stat was that 80% of scientists that were contated by the AP have not even seen the movie or think that the movie had terrible science.  One of the articles main points even probes Mr. Gore's intelligence saying that they don't even know if Al Gore knows that the earth and it's climate change even without human corruption.  In Al's defense, some of the bad comments made in this article are almost opinon rather than fact for example on of the coments was: He hyped unfounded fears the Greenland"s ice is in danger is disapearing.  I want some science to go along with that statement!  This is really a he said, he said thing.  All we are doing is taking sides and arguing over wich man we take trust in.  Al and James make good points in each but, I'm just in the middle.

Blog Assignment #6

The flash game I thought was a little confusing but imforming.  When you happen to be in the camp I'm always don't know what to do.  Do I just walk around amlessly before the water amount happens to be low?  The flash games purpose was evident when you could ask a represenitve or even send a letter to president Bush.  It was truely showing how dangerous and unstable it is in Darfur.  When they must go into danger to retrive on of life's nicessities.  Yes it is water and it is food and shelter but, I t wouldn't even come half way to our "pure"  Aquafina water or our lean and fresh USDA approved meat and our durable and long lasting houses.  This game does a lot to put a lucky american in a daarfurian's shoes but there will never be a safe simulation unless you want to buy yourself a one way ticket to Sudan and hope you come back in one peice.

Blog Assignment #5

The Green Country School in Georgia a superintendent look almost in desperation for a change in their school system after having years of extremly low test scores, dropouts at an all time high, and teen pregnancies through the roof.  I really don't blame the man.  To just try to keep a good job sometimes big steps are needed.  The superintendent looks for his school system to be completly single-sex classrooms.  I can personally see benifits to his plan.  Guys get distracted with girls in the classroom.  Sometimes I have to admit it is hard to concentrate on a test when a good looking girl is in your vicinity.  Girls belive that guys think that they look cute when they say dumb things or get a bad grade.  Teen pregnancy would most likely go down as well.  Keeping boys and girls separated prevents people meeting and relationships from happening.  I personally do not see a way to prevent people from droping out of school or maybe this will almost turbo charge the dropouts in the school.  Sometimes you can't have everything but two out of the three is not bad.  This man has definatly got some guts.  This man is either a hero or a faliure based on what happens further on when it is put into action.

Blog Assignment #4

Well Mr. Bruns I really don't enjoy the game because not only am I not good at naming a lot of countries but it forces me to try and spell.  As far as I know I am one of the worst spellers in Harlan High. This program also really made me think about which countries I knew (and could spell) I used a lot of my knoledge from the map tests. I was only able to get 36 countries in ten minuets which was dissapointing but I would say it is a chalenge and I have a question could anybody possibly get all of the countries in ten minuets?
